Hindsight

People say that hindsight is 20/20. It is generally said with a tongue in cheek tone such as, “Well if I’d known WHAT was going to happen I wouldn’t have done THAT…geez.” When we act this way it makes us seem, like we are victims to life, to circumstance. We think to ourselves, “man, if only I could know the future then I would know just what to say, just how to act.”

Maybe we should simply agree that hindsight is 20/20 and find a way to use that to our advantage. When we talk about “Being the Observer” in Think or Swim, we are asking you to use your 20/20 hindsight and learn from the experience. Isn’t that what life is all about, learning from our experiences? Next time this happens, just rewind the event, like you were watching a movie. See it as an observer. What could you have done differently? Most of us continue to repeat patterns and if we don’t take the time to review our words, thoughts and actions during events how will we ever grow? How will we ever make a better life for ourselves?

So grab some popcorn, “watch” the movie of your life and enjoy.
